Functions Of Edge Banding

PVC edge banding is primarily composed of polyvinyl chloride, produced through processes such as mixing, calendering, and vacuum forming. It is widely used in furniture, office supplies, kitchenware, educational equipment, and civilian laboratories. Thickness ranges from 0.3 to 3 mm, and width from 12 mm to 80 mm. Key features include: smooth surface, no bubbles, no streaks, moderate gloss, flat surface and back, uniform thickness, consistent width, reasonable hardness, high elasticity, good quality, strong wear resistance, and the edge banding color closely matches the surface color after trimming, without whitening, good gloss, and overall color coordination with finished furniture.

The main function of edge banding is to seal the cross-section of the board, protecting it from environmental and usage-related damage (primarily moisture) and preventing formaldehyde release from within the board, while also achieving a decorative and aesthetically pleasing effect.
